Dance-oriented pop in two languages — a second career that started before the franchises.

Merced's music career runs parallel to her acting, not behind it. She released her debut album Stopping Time in 2015, while still a Nickelodeon actor, and her debut single as Isabela Merced, “Papi” — co-written with Justin Tranter — arrived in October 2019, the same month she announced her stage-name change. The EP The Better Half of Me followed in May 2020. Her sound, as AllMusic describes it, is dance-oriented pop sung in English and Spanish — a direct reflection of her bilingual upbringing.

Why it matters to the profile

Music is the part of Merced's career that explains her audience: it is younger, more international and more Latin American than her film audience, and it is the reason her fan base spans languages.
